The national average to earn a Private Pilot License (PPL) is 65-70 hours of flight time with an additional 20 hours of dedicated ground instruction, despite most schools quoting the unrealistic FAA minimums of 40 hours. How long does it take to get your Private Pilot License?

On average, if you’re training twice a week, our clients typically finish their training in 4-6 months. Our comprehensive 150-hour program goes further, ensuring you develop the safety, confidence, and decision-making skills comparable to professional airline pilots. Keep in mind, 150 hours may sound like a lot, but some people do it in less, some people it takes more. The more consistently you fly, the less you’ll have to re-learn, saving you time and money.

Most importantly, getting a Private Pilot License is not about time logged, it’s how you perform in the air. The FAA minimum to test is 40 hours, however, the national average is roughly 65-70 hours of flight time and it’s pushing higher. The reality is, most people need practice and your safety and proficiency is our top priority.

I already have my license. Can I just get "checked out" in your SR20?

Yes. We offer Cirrus Transition courses designed for licensed pilots new to Cirrus aircraft.
