Why Pumpkin Spice Season is the Best Time to Fly!

Fall is one of the best seasons to fly in Southern California!

Why? As temperatures drop, the air gets smoother, visibility improves, and the strong summer thermals begin to fade. As you may know, during summer, hotter air is less dense requiring more power along with longer takeoff and landing distances. The sun also soaks into the ground below creating uneven pockets of heat which eventually mix with upward currents and create turbulence, making smaller aircraft flights more uncomfortable.

Now that we’re heading into fall, we’re going to get some of the calmest and most stable flying conditions of the year. It’s a great time to train, log hours and sharpen your skills. And if you’re looking to take a trip, our destination lessons are a great way to log hours while flying to nearby destinations like Tahoe, skiing in Utah or a weekend in Vegas.

Whether you’re working toward your Private Pilot License, completing advanced training, or just looking to keep current, now is the time to fly.

Book your next flight or lesson and let’s make the best of our wonderful SoCal weather!
