3 Cirrus Parachute Deployments You Don’t Want to Miss.

Ever Wondered What It’s Like to Use the Cirrus CAPS Parachute Deployment?

All Cirrus aircraft are equipped with safety features like CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System), a parachute system that can deploy in the event of an emergency. With a simple pull of the red T-handle within the cockpit, the rocket-propelled parachute system deploys and safely lowers the entire airplane to the ground.

If you’re curious about how it works or what it looks like from a bystander’s perspective, we’ve compiled a few videos for your viewing pleasure.

Bellview, CA – CAPS system safely lowers a family of three to the ground.

Belo Horizonte, Brazil – CAPS system safely lowers a SR22 with six passengers to the ground.

Hancock County, Indiana – Deployment of a CAPS system on a Cirrus Vision Jet SF50

While the CAPS is designed to protect occupants in rare and worst-case scenarios, we also include practice CAPS pulls in our training using our state-of-the-art Cirrus flight simulator. Our simulator offers the best replica of a Cirrus cockpit available and builds confidence through comprehensive ground training.
